Six Continuing Sessions
A follow up to the Introduction to Centering Prayer
Event Description
Six Continuing Sessions to the Introduction to Centering Prayer In this course immediately following the Introduction to Centering Prayer Workshop we build the foundation for connecting to God within our deepest being. “Centering Prayer is a practice that sensitizes us to God’s presence that is already there.” Thomas Keating The inner world is not always familiar to us. Designed for beginners, longtime practitioners have benefited from revisiting the basics from a new level. Bring your questions as we together become grounded in this prayer based on the monastic practices of the desert. The class consists of a 20-minute period of centering prayer, a 30-minute video teaching by Fr. Thomas Keating, and facilitated discussion. The book Open Mind Open Heart by Thomas Keating is the text to the class. Fruits of centering prayer include: -responding rather than reacting to the events of life -nurture our ability to live in the present moment -develop a nonjudgmental attitude of ourselves and others Dates: Saturdays Feb. 15, March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 Location: St. Rita’s Square 728 E.
