Event Description

"Centering Prayer is a practice that sensitizes us to God’s presence that is already there.” Thomas Keating The inner world is not always familiar to us. This course is designed for beginners, however, longtime practitioners have benefited from revisiting thebasics from a new level. Bring your questions as we together become grounded in this prayer based on the monastic practices of the desert. Each week a 30-minute video teaching by Fr. Thomas Keating is presented followed by a facilitated discussion. The book, Open Mind Open Heart by Thomas Keating is the text to the class. It can be purchased online thru contemplativeoutreach.org or through COSEW, contact the facilitator. Fruits of centering prayer include: • responding rather than reacting to the events of life • hones our ability to live in the present moment • develops a nonjudgmental attitude of ourselves and others THIS CLASS IS OPEN TO ANYONE WHO HAS ATTENDED AN INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP Dates: 6 weeks on Mondays, October 24, 31, November 7, 14, 21 and 28.
